Whose house are you building?

“Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, saying: ‘These people say, “The time has not come, the time that the Lord’s house should be built.” Then the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying, “Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?” Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways!(Haggai 1:2-5)

The house of God is your spiritual life and your house is your material life. People want to conquer a lot of things but put no effort in conquering their spiritual life. Many Christians have been suffering with many problems that they should not be suffering because they despise the word of God. They are busy building their own houses and forgetting the house of God.

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways! Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified,” says the Lord.” (Haggai1:7-8)

As the above verse shows what is needed to build God’s temple. One must go up a mountain and bring wood, of which is not easy. To build God’s house you must sacrifice your desires, denying yourself every day. The temple in this case is not a physical temple but a spiritual one.

God bless!
